Day 6 - Suva, Fiji

As much as I love sunsets my personal preference is the sunrise. When the sun comes up take on a more vivid, almost violent transitions as the sun gets higher in the sky.

Another shipping container port greets us. They spare no expense in the luxurious accommodations.

You know the word Hello and Hola. Now you know "Boola".
One thing you don't find when you try to search about things to do in Fiji... the island shuts down on each Sunday. Shops are closed, taxis are absent. This kind of complicates option available. The ship offers 5 excursions. 4 of the 5 are "sight seeing" trips which consists of taking you to various markets to shop for things. I can walk and learn a town on my own if those are the options available on a Sunday. Time to just walk around the town and explore.
Parts looks like Honolulu
One location of a Christian church
Then out of now here I got my first taste of rain here
Lots of buildings have this 1950s post-Communist architecture
Lots of various religions in town
More of that Cold-War architecture
Most every store closed today
Lots of Chinese investment money all around the town

Glad I headed back to the ship when I did. Just minutes later I got an idea what the rainy season feels like in Fiji. Some days during the rainy season the monsoon-like rain doesn't stop all day... for day at a time. Once this storm started it was nonstop downpour for 2 hours.
One boat sunk from the rain (right corner)
Hardcore surfers in the channel

We're at the half way point. Time to head back towards Sydney.
